Ged Brown
Founder, Tourism Seasonality Summit | Founder & CEO, Low Season Traveller
Ged Brown created the Tourism Seasonality Summit in 2024 to give the global travel and tourism industry its first dedicated forum for tackling the structural challenge of seasonality. Now in its third year and co-produced with Routes (Aviation Week Network, Informa), the Summit brings together leaders from airlines, airports, destinations, hotels, cruise lines, tourism authorities and technology providers to develop practical strategies for redistributing tourism demand across the calendar year.
Brown’s conviction that seasonality is the travel industry’s most consequential structural problem grew over a 30-year career that took him from high street travel agencies through tour operations, aviation route development and destination marketing. He held senior roles at Thomas Cook, MyTravel Group, Kuoni, TUI and Routes, giving him an operational understanding of how seasonal demand patterns affect every level of the tourism value chain, from the hotel owner closing for five months of the year to the airline pulling capacity from a route because winter load factors cannot justify the service.
In 2018, he founded Low Season Traveller, the world’s first multimedia platform dedicated exclusively to promoting travel during destinations’ low seasons. What began as a response to the accelerating overtourism crisis has grown into a media and destination marketing operation spanning a digital magazine, two podcasts, a television strand and partnerships with tourism organisations worldwide.
Brown hosts the consumer facing Insider Guides podcast, in which he speaks directly to locals living in destinations around the world about the reality of their low season experience. The podcast has built an audience of more than 100,000 listeners across 120+ countries and has become a trusted resource for travellers seeking authentic, crowd-free experiences. He also hosts the B2B Balancing Tourism podcast, which explores the industry-level challenges of managing tourism sustainably, featuring conversations with policymakers, academics and destination leaders.
The Low Season Traveller magazine ran for 14 print editions, previously stocked at Waitrose and WH Smith across the UK, and has since transitioned to a digital-first model. Low Season TV, which has accumulated an estimated 3 million views, extends the platform’s reach into video content, bringing low season destinations to life visually.
Brown launched the inaugural Tourism Seasonality Summit at Routes World in Bahrain in October 2024, bringing together thought-leaders from destinations, airports and airlines. The European edition followed in Seville in April 2025 alongside Routes Europe. The third Summit takes place across two days in Rimini, Italy, on 17-18 May 2026 alongside Routes Europe, expanded in direct response to delegate demand for deeper, more interactive programming.
The Summit has secured partnerships with the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and Mabrian/The Data Appeal Company, who serve as Official Knowledge Partner. In 2026, Brown also co-founded Ember, an invitation-only senior industry gathering designed to foster candid, off-the-record dialogue on the sector’s most pressing challenges.
Brown is a regular keynote speaker at international travel and tourism events. Recent engagements include ITB Berlin, Routes World, Routes Europe, Arabian Travel Market, PATA Travel Mart and the China Travel Summit. He has contributed to coverage in Aviation Week, TTG Asia, The Independent, the Sydney Morning Herald, Globetrender and Luxurious Magazine, among others. He collaborated with Professor Harold Goodwin, founder of the Responsible Tourism Partnership and drafter of the Cape Town Declaration, on the “Stop Pretending This Is Sustainable” podcast exploring the relationship between responsible tourism and seasonal demand redistribution.
He serves on the executive management board of the World Tourism Association for Culture & Heritage and is based in Manchester, UK.
